RCMP have confirmed the human remains that were found in Jemseg area on September 19, 2017 have been identified as a 44-year-old Fredericton woman.
The remains were on Gagetown Island in the Saint Jogn River. After a investigation foul play has been ruled out.
The identity of the women has not been released.
Full RCMP statement:
“Human remains discovered on Gagetown Island in the Saint John River have been positively identified as a Fredericton woman.
The remains were discovered by a boater on the island in the Jemseg area on September 19, 2017. Subsequent analysis confirmed the remains were those of a 44-year-old Fredericton woman who was last seen on January 21, 2017.
Foul play has been ruled out.”
