Impaired driver approached Confederation Bridge and hits RCMP police car.

On November 25th, 2017, a 27 year-old female who is from Oyster Bed was driving under the influence, and was going over 80km/h. RCMP received a  report that the woman was going to be approaching the Confederation Bridge where they met her.

The female driver turned into the oncoming traffic lane which cause her to collide with a police car. She was then arrested at the scene for impaired driving, and according to police her BAC level was twice the legal limit.

The 27-year-old is due in court on January 18th, 2018.

RCMP Statement:

On November 25th 2017 the East Prince RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver in New Brunswick who was approaching the Confederation Bridge.

Police units responded to the Confederation Bridge and were met by the suspected vehicle which abruptly turned into the oncoming lane of traffic causing a minor collision with a police car. An officer was then able to get the vehicle stopped.

The female driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to the East Prince RCMP Detachment where she provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

A 27 year-old female from Oyster Bed is facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle over 80. She is scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court on January 18th, 2018, to answer to the charges.
